NextGen Microscopist Program

The NextGen Microscopists program is geared towards student in grades K – 12. Through the Hitachi Inspire Program, students are provided with free use a Hitachi TM4000Plus table-top SEM following ready-made or customized lesson plans provided by CCEM. The goal of the program is to educate and inspire youth to enter the science and engineering fields through a free hands-on learning experience with a scanning electron microscope (SEM). The program will increase accessibility and diversity in these fields through engagement with youth in under-represented groups.

For more information, open the program flyer.

CCEM is committed equity, diversity, and inclusivity and we strongly believe in access to higher education and inclusive excellence. Through the NextGen Program, students have the opportunity to operate an instrument that is traditionally reserved for post-secondary and graduate students. The program is open to schools and organizations that interact with kids. Interested teachers or program organizers can request the instrument through the application below.

Please complete the following application for access to the SEM. The program is open to all, but priority will be given to groups that support our values to access, diversity and inclusive excellence in the scenario that the SEM is over prescribed
